This policy describes Sorilo’s current intended data practices. If the app’s data flows, vendors, or features change, this page should be updated before release.
1. Overview
Sorilo is a family storytelling app intended to be managed by parents or guardians. Parents can create child profiles and request personalized stories. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide the app, manage accounts and subscriptions, and generate requested stories.
2. Information we collect
Account and contact information
We may collect the parent or guardian’s name and email address when an account is created or used.
Child profile information
A parent or guardian may provide a child’s first name and age. Sorilo may derive an appropriate reading level from the age information.
User-provided story content
We may collect themes and custom prompts entered by a parent or guardian to create personalized stories, as well as story content needed to provide the library and reading experience.
Identifiers
We may use an internal user or account identifier to associate account functionality, saved content, and subscription access with the correct account.
Purchase information
We may receive purchase or subscription status information needed to unlock paid features, restore purchases, and manage entitlements. We do not receive or store full payment-card details when purchases are handled by an app store.
3. How we use information
- Provide, personalize, and maintain Sorilo’s app functionality.
- Generate requested stories and adapt them to the child profile and reading level.
- Authenticate accounts and keep saved content associated with the correct account.
- Determine subscription status and enable Premium features.
- Respond to support requests and protect the service from abuse or security threats.
4. AI story generation
When a story is generated, Sorilo sends information needed for that request to an AI service operated by Google (Gemini). The prompt may include the child’s first name, age, a reading level derived from age, and the theme or exact custom prompt entered by the parent. This information is used to generate the requested story.
5. Service providers
We use service providers to operate Sorilo. These may include Google Gemini for AI story generation, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, hosting or database providers used by our backend, and Apple or Google for app-store purchases. Providers process information according to their role in delivering the service.
6. Advertising and tracking
Sorilo does not use the information described above for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
7. Children’s information
Sorilo is designed for use by parents and guardians. Children are not asked to create their own Sorilo account. Child profile information is provided and managed by a parent or guardian for the purpose of creating a personalized reading experience.
8. Data retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect our systems. Parents may request account or personal-data deletion by contacting Sorilo support. Some transaction records may need to be retained where required by law or by an app-store provider.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
10. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where a user lives. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for such processing.
11. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information. To make a request, contact us using the support information below.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Sorilo’s features, vendors, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the “Last updated” date.
